Thread: Volunteer Wanted!

    Volunteer Wanted!

OK, I need a willing dodge owner who wants to convert their truck.

I have a design in mind but need to work with someone on a real project to complete it. So far, no one has come out of the woodwork with a dodge design and frankly I haven\'t seen any that meet my performance standards.

    Specs/standards.
    Fully automatic operation.
    -Automatic diesel to veggie switchover
-Automatic shutdown and purge initiated by ignition off
-Automatic diesel backup if veggie pressure drops
-Manual override available only for system diagnostics
    -Visual indicators of system status

The conversion should be a completely redundant fuel system. Kit should affect stock fuel system minimally and truck should be able to run on diesel with veggie system failure.

I suspect cost to be similar to the Ford System but I suspect it to be a bit simpler electronically as we will not need a separate purge function.

I am in Charleston SC, though we can work remote.

    Any takers?

    Re:Volunteer Wanted!

    Hello Leon Griffin,
My name is Matthew Griffin and I own a 99 dodge 2500 that I am soon switching to WVO and would like to help develop a fully automated WVO design. If you have any information and/or input let me know. I was planning to use a custom built 2nd tank located in the spare tire space in the rear of the truck. The diesel would then be routed to a series of glow plug and coolant heated filters with a 6 port switch valve. This is a rough idea of my design and will be modified as I go. Feel free to email me and let me know if you are interested.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Re:Volunteer Wanted!

Leon, I recently purchased an 03 2500 with the HO Cummins 5.9. I have not picked it up yet but will be getting it next week. I am ready to purchase the componants and work with you on the conversion. I am currently employed working week on week off. I want to start this asap and get it converted. I am willing to help with the design where needed. The design needs to be bullet proof. I will be driving the truck up to 500 miles to get back and forth to work. Let me know what changes you are considering for the bill of materials. As I said I could start buying the parts in the next week.

I have some mechanical background as a helicopter mechanic. I have a buddy that is also interested and might be interested in converting a duramax in time.

    Leon: I am driving a 92 dodge w/cummings diesel
I run 75% WVO in the summer and 25% diesel, no other conversion. Looking system for cold weather. What have you got in mind?

    Re:Volunteer Wanted!

Well, I am still trying to find someone to work with to piece together a system so that I can document it piece by piece as I did with the Ford 7.3PSD design. Shoot me a message with the form if you don\'t already have my email and we can get started.
