Hey After Oil

Congratulations! Sure feels good to have her up and spinning! I also had an oil leak around the mount bolts and I added some fender washers on top of the washers that Leon shipped out.
It stopped all the mess, and now all is good.

So, this big box arrived today, and it contains a RPC centrifuge with 3 phase motor, controller and other goodies! -THANKS LEON.

It went together in about 30 minutes...
Here are some skill testing questions for the membership..

1) Is shielded wire required for the motor connection wires between the drive and motor? If not, is there any RF or EMF coming from the unit?

2) What controls are you guys using out there for operation of the drive? Seems to be very functional.
I plan on using the start/stop and 'at speed' led function. Interested to hear from others.

3) Any comments on the RPC inline heater? Sure looks nice.

We plan on getting the 'high speed' unit up and online in the next few days. The inline heater (220V) actually required us to run an upgraded service to the process area to accomodate the 220V! Never a dull moment here.

I hope to here from everyone out there....
Its awfully quiet.

I think that is the sounds of crickets Vern...

I thought about using a light on the relay to show "at speed" and was also going to look at the DC brake though have not implemented either. I was thinking that the relay could be used to control the flow into the unit with a solenoid valve...Or just a light. The DC brake would be just for fun.

I don't recall which heater element you have. They are both rated to 230V but the double element is 1500W@230V and the single element is 1000W@120. I would think that the single would be too much (3000W@230V). If you have the single element and have gone through the trouble of wiring for 220V I can send you the double element.

Crickets... YES!

I have the 220V heating element.
I will just wire it for 120V not a big deal.

In terms of the sheilded wire from the motor to the drive, the shorter the better. I would braid the wires to reduce the Electro-Mechanical Field Radiation if there isnt any Belden sheilded wire in your garages.

Also, the drive MUST be fused at 10 amps, in case there is a line voltage fault, the fuse will blow, not your drive.

I will send Leon a few pictures of what I've done with my drive, as well as some wiring diagrams to take advantage of the external relay functions.

Hello? Hello?

Just a quick hello to all.
We officially moved our facility (yes, one more time)
to increase our feedstock capability. We are now able to have 1000 gallons of feedstock waiting to be spun, and 2000 gallons of centrifuged product. We plan on running 24/7 to keep up with the feedstock that we have. We are using 14' redi-rack to stay with the gravity idea, and it is working well.
Thank god for the warmer weather; the feedstock is settling quite nicely.
We also purchased a Sandy Brae water test kit, and am very happy with the results so far. The centrifuge(s) are pulling out enough water to show on average 0.01% H2O with our post product tests. I will send some pics when everything is online and the shop is cleaned up.
