I finally got all my pieces together for my WVO centrifuge. The boys at simple centrifuge only get you so far, that leaves you with some design problems to consider. I have included my bill of material and an installation with the items numbered. Yes, I know the hoses are not in the picture.

I have included the drawings for the Enclosure and lid as well as the BOM and installation in the download section.

Folow up notes on the WVO Centrifuge:
I missed a reducing adaptor and a 1/4 fitting on the inside of the lid in the bill of material and I don't use any other valve to control the flow. I estimate I am getting a flow of about 15gph at 150F. The oil look clear but I am getting some condensation on the outlet line. I was considering adding a vent on the centrifuge lid to let the water vapor escape but I suspect that might just make a mess. I will probably try it and plug it if it is a problem. I would love some input, I have been winging most of this stuff solo.

Leon,
Great work! On the thought of putting a hole in the lid to vent the steam...have you considered a cheap cooled coil (a la condensing coil)? I've used a coil of copper tubing from the top of my centrifuge, into a tub of water. There are bubbles like you'd see a kid blowing bubbles through a straw, and the water gets nasty after awhile. But it makes for a neat and tidy way to use the high heat to help de-water the wvo!
Hope this helps!

Clint,
That is a very interesting concept. It sounds like your setup would be a nice addition to the forum, do you have any pictures?

Did to tap into the center of the lid or the side of the lid. I would expect that the side would have positive pressure and the center negative...

How large a tub of water? I was thinking of something like a wine brewers vapor lock.

Leon,

How important do you think it is to maintain the 150 degree temp?

The reason I am asking is that I had planned on using a bucket/drum heater rather than an inline heater and a gravity feed (no pump) filter system. The bucket heater only raises the temp to around 110.

Maybe the lower temp will solve the condensation issue as well!?!?

Thanks,

Ben

More questions....

Can you tell me if your setup is pumped or gravity fed? Picture 16 of 17 looks like straight gravity feed from the top giant cube but there is not much head room.

Also, How often do you have to remove the bowl to clean out the inside of the splash wall? It looks like it might be a natural place to collect unwanted "gook".
