I have been refining my home built centrifuge trying to address a VERy persistant problem: Leaking around the lid. No matter what kind of seal I tried I continued to get leakage, not bad, but enough to be annoying.

Eureka! the answer: An internal "sling ring deflector shield" I cut a plexiglass ring to fit down inside my collector, but just above the rotor. I shaped it as a donut with inside hole a little smaller than the rotor opening.

The oil out of the rotor will sling at an angle up the wall; the more oil you put in the machine,the more it will leak, with the deflector shield it can't, the oil can't get to the lid seal. I can now clean up to 30 GPH with no leaks!
