TOPIC: homemade rotors

homemade rotors 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Has anyone made a rotor out of something like a concave steel bowl. I have found a few and it seems that once you get that bowl with the interior lip it is the same. I do see that it is important for drill the hole perfectly in the middle, but other than that can anyone see a drawback? Looking to do this on the cheap and I'm trying any way possible. Check this attachment to see what I am talking about. (this isn't the best one, but enough to get the jist) Thanks.

I know of at least one guy that made one out of wood (it warped) and another guy that did one out of plastic (I think it broke).

I am trying to make them inexpensive enough that it wouldn't make much sense to do it yourself but do love to hear of the trials!

I made a centrifuge rotor from a 1984 Jetta rear brake drum.
