alternative location for pump and filter 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, great source for info. I'm building a '99 F250 veg system and was wondering if the filter and pump unit can be located in another area. The reason is , I live in Western New York and the highway dept. uses salt on the roads like its going out of style. In order to help protect the components, I was thinking about putting the unit in the bed next to the tank. Possible? Any reasons not to? Advantages vs disadvantages? Give me your thoughts. Thanks for the help in advance. Mark

Greasy, thru one winter in the ADK's i agree. All of my components are covered in road salt and rust. It is pretty frustrating. If you can put your pump and filter in the bed of the truck then do it. You will just want to make a plan for changing your filter.

How do you like your setup overall? Is it fully automated like the design shows? I have a '95 F250 PSD that I put in a manual system of my own design. I has HIH , a FPHE , Racor filter and uses a closed loop with no return . Over 15000 miles and no problems.
Am I right to assume that the '99 needs the high pressure pump unlike my '95 setup? Would you recommend the pump you are using or would you recommend a different one? I'm leaning towards a manual system for simplicity reasons but will do more research into the automated parts. Mark

hey Greasy -

I've been running the Vegistroke in Akron NY for over a year now. I have several thousand miles and a couple thousand gallons of oil through it. I'm very pleased with the product and the support. I don't know if the salt or the oil spills (caused by me) have made the unit look worse, but it isn't nearly as pretty as it used to be. One of these days I'm going to get off my butt and make a nice box for it. Give me a call, I'm always up for talking about oil, I can show you the barn and the truck... and answer whatever questions you have.

Take Care,
Jack
